Stevenage Mayor, Councillor Myla Arceno meets with local businesses at btc

Following a successful business launch for Right at Home in the btc Stevenage in November, Mayor Myla Arceno was keen to come back and meet more local businesses and tour the btc.

Sharing the Madam Mayors enthusiasm for supporting the local economy, Stevenage businesses and entrepreneurs, the btc team invited Madam Mayor to join a networking event in January to do just that.

Following introductions to the Wenta and btc team on arrival, Wenta’s Director of Client Services and Engagement, Jennifer Condon, and Director of Finance David Pointer, toured the btc introducing Madam Mayor to clients in the Incubator.

The btc Incubator plays a crucial role in supporting small business and start ups by providing workspace, free support and advice, networking, and a free desk space for up to 3 months.

Mark Hayden, Fractal 5 Solutions, spoke to the mayor about Vertical Farming in one of the btc units at the Chells location.

Amanda Calderia, Calderia Consulting Company limited, talked about her work with businesses dealing with stress in the workplace

Antony Reeve-Crook, Author of “Where Markets Meet”, talked about the challenges of managing exhibitions across the globe.

Madam Mayor joined the main networking event in the meeting and conference space downstairs, officially opening the event. She spoke her work with the business community, her love for Stevenage Town and one of her nominated charities, The Red Shed, who provide gardening experiences for those with dementia. Madam Mayor also took a moment to acknowledge and congratulate Kieran from Stevenage Sports Injury and Massage Clinic, for celebrating 10 years at the btc!

Many of the attending businesses took an opportunity to introduce themselves in a brief ‘pass the mic’ interval, before the guests were invited to break out and network, chatting and introducing themselves, before lunch was served, courtesy of event sponsors, Wilder Coe Ltd.
