Wenta secure a new five-year contract for btc

In 2009, Wenta secured the contract to manage a new Innovation and Technology Centre in Stevenage, now known as the Business and Technology Centre (btc). The btc has gone from strength to strength since Wenta took over the management and this month Wenta is proud to announce that it has been awarded a new five-year contact to continue managing the Business and Technology Centre.

The five-year extension is highly beneficial for local entrepreneurs and businesses in the area, a key priority of Stevenage Borough Council, especially, in the wake of Business Link’s support services being replaced by an online-only resource for businesses.

Chief Executive of Wenta, Chris Pichon, pictured on the right (left to right) Sharon Taylor, Leader of the Council and Cllr Ralph Raynor, says; 'Wenta are thrilled to have been awarded this contract. After a successful three years managing the btc in Stevenage we are looking forward to continuing working with Stevenage Borough Council and the local community. The team have worked tirelessly over the past three years to make the btc one of the country's leading Innovation Hubs, and so to win this contract again means a great deal to us. Our aim remains the same as in 2009, to' Inspire Innovation' in the Stevenage community and we are very much looking forward to what the next few years have in store".

Since winning the contract in 2009, Wenta have supported over 500 businesses at this centre. In 2010 over 200 Stevenage based businesses were advised by Wenta business advisors at the btc and of those 86% were found to be surviving 1 year after seeking business support (Wenta: 2011).

The decision to award Wenta the five-year contract ensures that the centre in Stevenage retains its status as the longest serving Enterprise hub within the region promoting networking, the sharing of knowledge and cross trading.

The btc offers offices and workshops to rent, virtual office services, state of the art conference facilities and is able to support new businesses with specialist business advice, mentoring and hot-desking facilities.
